Each year, A Better Chance Strath Haven reviews applications for admission to its program provided to us by the national A Better Chance Program. For detailed information about the application process, including required documents and deadlines, go to the national website at www.abetterchance.org.
A Better Chance Strath Haven has eight scholars total. Our ideal enrollment model is four girls and four boys, two in each grade, 9th through 12th. This means we typically accept two to four scholars per year.
Applicants who meet our admission criteria are invited to personally visit our program with a parent or guardian. During that visit, candidates interview with ABC Strath Haven staff and board members, view our house, meet our current scholars and staff, and tour Strath Haven High School to meet with faculty and staff. Applicant visits give both parties, candidates for admission and ABC Strath Haven members, the chance to determine if our program is a good fit.
If a student is accepted and offered enrollment after their visit, they have two weeks to decide if they will accept the offer of admission. Acceptance requires signature on an enrollment agreement along with a $50 deposit. Additional paperwork is required to become officially registered at Strath Haven High School, and to join the A Better Chance Strath Haven program.
