Boys' House

The ABC Strath Haven Boys’ House is located on Harvard Avenue in Swarthmore, next to the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church. In 1975, the church offered this 100+ year-old shingled home to the first group of boys in the program, and to this day the church has provided the home and funds toward capital improvements and upkeep to ABC Strath Haven in exchange for a nominal rent.

The house is designed to accommodate two resident directors in a third-floor apartment, two resident tutors in a second-floor wing, and up to eight students in bedrooms on the second floor.

The house has been renovated over the years to make a comfortable home and to accommodate the academic and recreation needs of the students. Football season, March Madness, and marathon movie sessions are broadcast in the living room; the finished basement provides a venue for ping-pong tournaments; a wide front porch offers lounge chairs; and the dining room seats all house residents at family-style meals. Each student has a separate study space with desk and computer.
